Sunday 14th - Putting on the armour

'Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.'

Ephesians 6:10-18
Activity

As you get dressed today pray on the spiritual items of clothing alongside putting on your physical items. Ask God to clothe you in His armour to prepare yourself for battle this week.

The devotional talks of how the rhythms we adopt to connect with God are opportunities to polish our armour.
Here are two great resources to build in good rhythms with Jesus into your daily life:

Rule of Life Workbook

Daily Rhythm of Prayer Guide
Monday 15th - Praying for the sick

'Suddenly, a man with leprosy approached him and knelt before him. “Lord,” the man said, “if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.” Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” And instantly the leprosy disappeared.”'

Matthew 8:2-3
Activity

Read Luke 8:43-48 and reflect on the woman who bled for 12 years and found healing through her faith as she touched the material of Jesus' clothes.

Take a piece of material (this could be as simple as a tissue) and think of someone who needs healing. Write their name on the material and pray with faith for their full healing in Jesus' name.
Tuesday 16th - Praying for our leaders

'So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?'

1 Kings 3:7-9
Activity

Light a candle and pray over the qualities you long to see shine out in our leaders across politics, church, schools, workplaces, homes, universities and any other spheres of life.

Pray "Please, Lord, give us wisdom" over each area.

Create a personal 'Map of Influence' by drawing circles for each area of your life on a sheet of paper and writing the names of the people you lead in one colour and the people who lead you in another colour. Research the names of your local MP and other local leaders to add to the circles. Pray blessing over this 'map' and ask God to give you a word or phrase to note down by each circle to focus your prayers as you refer back to it.
Wednesday 17th - Praying for the oppressed

'Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.'

Psalm 82:3-4
Activity

Research the history of our nation. Learn of the injustices faced daily by so many of our neighbours and friends.

Ask the Lord what breaks His heart in Cardiff & Wales. Ask Him to break your heart for what breaks His. Draw a heart on a sheet of paper and tear it.

Pray a prayer of repentance from your own heart and on behalf of Wales. Repentance precedes revival, we long to see our nation bend back towards Jesus.

Thursday 18th - Praying for salvation

'The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.'

2 Peter 3:9

'For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.'

Titus 2:11
Activity

Pray for  3 - start by asking Father God to put 3 people on your heart, to pray for their salvation.

To help you to remember to pray for these people you could take a piece of string/ribbon and tie 3 knots in it for each person.

You could weave three strands of ribbon together reminding you of the 3 people.

You could gather 3 small pebbles and carry them in your pocket to remind you to pray.

Challenge: When you next run an errand, invite Jesus to open your eyes and soften your heart. Ask Him who He might like you to pray for. Be bold (and stay at a safe distance) and pray with the person He leads you to.
Friday 19th - Praying for the vulnerable

'A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing.'

Psalm 68:5
Activity

Line up some of the different pairs of shoes in your house. Imagine walking in the shoes of a range of people facing different issues (e.g. a child in the fostering system, someone feeling isolated, someone facing homelessness, someone in debt, someone who had to flee their own country). As you imagine different people, pray for God to meet them in their need with His abundance.

God reveals himself as ‘El Roi’ meaning ‘the one who sees me’. (Genesis 16:7-13)
Who is it that needs to be seen today?
Pray that they would have an encounter with the God who sees them.

What would it look like for you to reach out and let them know that that are known and loved today? Let's be the answer to our own prayers.

Saturday 20th - Praying for the UK

'If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.'

2 Chronicles 7:14
Activity

Find out what needs in our nations God wants you to pray about. What touches your heart? Let’s listen to the Holy Spirit and cry out to God, joining our prayers with the many others already asking for revival.

The UK has a long history with Christianity, from Celtic saints through to emerging and fresh expressions of church. It has sent missionaries all over the world, and experienced a number of re-awakenings and revivals. We want to see the ancient wells re-opened, and the UK return to God.

The website below shows all the places of significance across the UK. Take a look at the map, and ask God where He would like you to dig the ancient wells open for revival to pour out.

https://www.ukwells.org/

Get a mixing bowl and a cup. Fill the mixing bowls with cups of water as you pray. Pray for Holy Spirit to flood the dry land and open the wells.
Sunday 21st - Praying for the environment

'The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.'

Genesis 1:15
Activity

Plant a seed.
Let this be your prayer plant. Every time you come to water it, pray for restoration on the Earth, pray blessing on your local environment, and on the global environment. Pray that the Father would grow wholeness into our desperate world.

Let's take action to help our environment as we pray. There are so many small ways to choose to be active rather than passive in our care for the planet. This could look like signing a petition, buying sustainable food and products, reducing your waste, or growing something.
