VCC Noon Prayer Liturgy

(Words in bold are to be prayed together by the whole group)

Welcoming Prayer + Centering Prayer

These prayers should be prayed slowly and reflectively. Enjoy peacefully resting in his presence as you pray them.

Jesus, as we take this moment to rest from our day : come fill us with your love.

You are my shepherd : in you I lack nothing.

You cause me to lie down in green pastures : you lead me beside quiet waters.

You refresh my soul and guide me along right paths for your name’s sake.

Moment for reflection and thanksgiving

1 I give you thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart;

    before the gods I sing your praise;

2 I bow down toward your holy temple

and give thanks to your name for your

 steadfast love and your faithfulness,

for you have exalted above all things

    your name and your word.

3 On the day I called, you answered me;

my strength of soul you increased.

Psalm 138 v1-3 (ESV)

Take a moment to reflect on what God is saying to you through the passage. If it’s helpful, write it down to then keep with you for the rest of the day.

Blessed are the poor : for theirs is the kingdom of God.

Blessed are the hungry : for they shall be filled.

Blessed are the meek :  for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are the pure in heart : for they shall see God.

Blessed are those who mourn : for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the merciful : for they shall be shown mercy.

Blessed are the peacemakers : for they are the children of God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness and justice:

for great is their reward.

Come Holy Spirit. We pray that your fruit would be in us : love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Extended Time of Prayer

(Focus on the daily theme from the Take Your Stand devotional and pray out loud as you feel led)

(As the hour draws to a close)

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,

your kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins

as we forgive those who sin against us.

Lead us not into temptation

but deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power,

and the glory are yours

now and forever.

Amen.

Almighty God,

we praise you for all you have done,

help us with all that you want us to do.

Come, Holy Creator,

and rebuild the city of Cardiff,

so that we do not labour in vain without you.

Come, Holy Saviour,

and heal all that is broken,

in our lives and in our streets.

Come, Holy Spirit,

and inspire us with the energy and willingness,

to rebuild Cardiff to your honour and glory.

Amen.

(Adapted from the prayer for Camden)

Father, we thank you that you hear our prayers and the cries of our hearts.

We thank you that you know and love us.

This is the day that you have made and we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Amen.

Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,

as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever.

Amen.
